Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study is to examine the effects of B-Fit™ exercises on body composition depending on age in women aged 18-59.

Materials and Methods: A total of 52 women between the ages of 18-59 (mean age: 29.4 ± 9.7 years; average height: 163.4 ± 5.3 cm; average body weight: 71.9 ± 14.4 kg), who performed physical exercises in the B-Fit™ gym, voluntarily participated in the study. Bioelectric impedance weighing device (Tanita BC-730) was used for body composition measurements and a tape measure (0.1 cm) was used for circumferential measurements, and the values of fat ratio, lean body weight, fat weight, body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio were calculated. B-Fit™ exercises were applied for three months, six days a week, 30 min daily. B-Fit™ exercises were formed of nine stations, and three sets were applied. The sets lasted 10 min, including 30 s of B-Fit™ usage, 30 s of aerobic exercises and 1 min of rest. Body composition measurements were taken four times, at the beginning, and the end of each month. Statistical analyses were performed using the IBM SPSS 24.0 program. Kruskal Wallis test was used for age group comparisons, and Mann Whitney U test was used for paired comparisons (p <0.05).

Results: In comparing age groups, significant differences were found in fat ratio, fat weight, BMI, waist circumference and waist-hip ratio (p<0.05). Significant differences were found in the abdomen and waist circumferences according to age at the second and third months (p<0.05). No significant difference was found in lean body weight according to age (p<0.05).

Conclusion: It has been observed that there is a difference in fat ratio and fat weight between the 20-year-old and younger, and the 40-year-old and older group before exercises. As a result of the B-Fit™ exercises, it was observed that BMI, waist circumference and waist-hip ratio decreased in all age groups after four weeks.
